The present day American University of Science & Technology began in 1989 under the name "the American Universal College". In August 2000, the name was changed to American University College of Science & Technology as per presidential Decree # 3585/2000. August 2007 confirmed the present name of American University of Science & Technology according to Presidential Decree # 677/2007.
The Decree granted AUST the status of a full university with permission to offer programs leading to Bachelor, Master & Master of Business Administration (MBA) degrees in three academic Faculties (Schools).
These are:

In conformity with the prevailing laws of Lebanon all academic programs offered by AUST have been submitted for accreditation and equivalency by the Higher Education Equivalence Committee and all have been duly accredited.
AUST follows a non discrimination policy and it attempts to keep tuition fees within the reach of the average to low income family in respect of the wishes of the founders who wanted "to provide good American styled education at affordable costs".
The University assists students in finding jobs during their college years.
During 2007-2008 close to 60% of all students held full time or part time jobs.
