Appointed in 1983 as responsible for political relations in Beirut and deputy general secretary of the party.
Founded Sawt al-Jabal radio station in 1984 and continued as director and supervisor until it was closed in 1994; was a daily political commentator.
Elected to the PSP’s Leadership Council in 1987, also appointed responsible for central media in the party; retains these posts until the present.
Appointed political advisor to PSP leader Walid Jumblatt in 1991.
Elected to the Lebanese Parliament on 3 September 2000.

Published “Words for a Difficult Time” in 1992 in four parts, containing speeches, positions and commentary from Sawt al-Jabal radio.
Published “Lebanon: A Great Price for a Small Role” in 1992, containing readings of the political situation in Lebanon and the region and Lebanon’s role in the coming era.
Appointed Minister of Public works and transport in july 2008.
